Happy Summer Everyone!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and finding fun ways to stay cool in these sweltering temperatures!  Thankfully, Fall is just around the corner!

I wanted to share some helpful information/reminders with you regarding trash, recycling and bulk collection.  Some of these guidelines are mandated by Town ordinance and others are just thoughtful tips;

·         All trash items (excluding bulk) must be inside the cart and weigh no more than 175 lbs. to ensure collection

·         Contents should be bagged and lids closed to avoid littering -  when trash is loose in the container this can be very messy on a windy day

·         Do not put yard waste (limbs, dirt, leaves, etc.) in your trash or recycling container – bag yard waste and put out for bulk collection

·         Please do not put paint or other hazardous items in your trash container or at the curb for bulk collection.  Please call 1-800-449-7587 to schedule pick up of your hazardous waste

·         Do not fill containers with dirt as this can make the containers too heavy for collection

·         Proper placement of your cart is within two feet of the edge of the street and handles should face your house, where the lid opens to the street

·         Do not place containers or bulk on the sidewalk – this blocks pedestrian traffic

·         Do not place containers or bulk in the street as it can impede traffic

·         The best location for your containers is at the end of your driveway furthest away from the mailbox - the Postmaster requires carts to be placed far enough away from the mailbox so the carrier can access the mailbox without interference

·         Have your trash, recycling, and bulk items curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day, and, according to Town Ordinance, no earlier than 8 a.m. the day before and no later than 8 a.m. on the day after your collection day.
